How LearnHNS wallets and extensions handle your seed phrases, node requests, and personal data. Minimal collection, maximum user control.

Last updated: September 2026

01

This Privacy Policy outlines how the LearnHNS wallets (including our Chrome extension) handle your data. As a decentralized ecosystem tool, we prioritize your privacy and security above all else. We operate on a principle of minimal data collection and maximum user control.

02

All wallet data, including preferences, account names, and transaction history, is stored entirely locally on your device. We do not sync this data to any external servers or cloud services. If you uninstall the extension or clear your browser data, your local wallet storage will be permanently deleted.

03

Your Seed Phrase (recovery phrase) and Private Keys are generated locally on your device. They are encrypted using the password you set and are never transmitted to our servers or any third-party services. You are solely responsible for securely backing up your Seed Phrase.

04

The password you create to lock your wallet is only used locally to encrypt and decrypt your private keys. We do not store, transmit, or have access to your password. If you lose your password, we cannot recover it for you.

05

To display balances, discover wallet activity, manage Handshake names, and submit user-approved transactions, the wallet communicates with the configured Handshake RPC or indexer. Requests may include derived wallet addresses, transaction identifiers, name data, and signed raw transactions. The configured service also receives ordinary connection metadata such as an IP address.

When the default LearnHNS service is used, this information is processed only to provide the requested blockchain functionality. Application logs do not intentionally record wallet addresses, RPC parameters, or raw transaction payloads. Seed phrases, private keys, and wallet passwords are never sent to the service. Users may instead configure their own compatible RPC endpoint.

06

LearnHNS Wallet is a self-custody browser extension. Seed phrases and private keys are stored locally in the user's browser extension storage and are not intentionally sent to LearnHNS servers.

However, wallet rescans may send derived receive and change addresses from the user's wallet to the configured Handshake RPC or indexer service. This is used to discover relevant transactions, balances, and Handshake name ownership. If the user uses the default hosted service, that service may see addresses associated with the wallet.

Users who prefer not to expose wallet addresses to the default hosted service should configure their own compatible Handshake RPC or indexer endpoint before importing or restoring a wallet.

07

When you use the LearnHNS wallet extension to connect to decentralized applications (DApps) or ShakeDex, the wallet injects a content script to facilitate communication. The wallet will explicitly prompt you for permission before connecting to any DApp or signing any transactions. We do not track which websites you visit or which DApps you interact with.

08

Please note that the address lookup and rescan behavior described above is completely separate from analytics. LearnHNS Wallet currently has analytics disabled/no-op in the extension code. We do not use tools like Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or any other tracking software within the wallet application to monitor your behavior.

09

LearnHNS does not sell, rent, or trade wallet data. Blockchain data sent to the configured RPC or indexer is used only to provide wallet functionality and is not used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or lending decisions.

10

LearnHNS Wallet uses and transfers user data only to provide or improve its user-facing wallet features. We do not use or transfer this data for personalized advertising or unrelated purposes, and we do not permit humans to read it except with the user's affirmative consent for support, when required for security, or when required by law. Our handling of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
